Freddy Adu was a solid anchor in his first MLS playoff start for the D.C. United. Playing against the New York Red Bulls, Freddy Adu was excited to to be starting in his first playoff game and feels as though he’s a “big part of the team’s offense.”

In his first playoff start Freddy Adu had 3 shots on goal with one garnering a gasp from the crowd he lobbed it from the right side just missing a brilliant shot attempt.

The days only goal came from D.C. United’s MVP hopeful Christian Gomez on a give and go from Jaime Moreno.

Freddy Adu and D.C. United play New York once again on Sunday October 29th.

Freddy Adu, the 17 year old soccer phenom from Ghana amazed a crowd in Michigan with his dribbling and shooting skills.

Freddy Adu displayed why he has so much hype behind his name at the Disney Mobile Skills and Drills Challenge earlier this month by hitting targets at will and performing dribbling manuevers that would make and soccer die-hard be amazed.

Hundreds of people watched as Freddy Adu and others from the MLS dazzled the crowd and and then stuck around and signed autographs for anyone who wanted one. Freddy Adu is about to enter into the playoffs of the MLS and is enjoying every minute of it.

With the recent talk of Freddy Adu Heading to Reading it’s been more of a when and where rather than an if Freddy Adu will make the move to play in Europe when the MLS season gets over.

Originally there was talk of UK’s Reading loaning Adu from DC United to finish out the European season, and possibly buy his rights outright to play permanently for Reading but now we just found a report, be as it may that it’s from a Ghana newspaper, but Freddy Adu is rumored to have Chelseea Manchester United and Real Madrid all courting the young soccer star.

The Statesman out of Ghana just reported that UK’s News of the World has made it known that the three soccer powerhouses, Chealsea, Manchester United and Real Madrid are all looking for the young Freddy Adu to sign on the dotted line and play football with them.

The U.S. National U-20 team was captained by Freddy Adu this past week to a huge 5-1 win over Haiti’s U-23 team. The game, held in Sunrise Florida, saw goals by Michael Bradley, Miguel Gonzalez, Johann Smith, Tim Ward, and Dax McCarty.

Dax McCarty’s score came on a penalty kick while the American’s were playing with just 10 players.

Although Freddy Adu didn’t score in his first game as U.S. captain he did manage to shine as he always does with his great offensive dribbling skills.

Freddy Adu is speaking out against his reputation as a diver in the MLS following a 2-1 lose by his team, DC United to the New England Revolution.

Freddy Adu has been known to take dive here and there to try and draw the foul. And often times he’s successful. Being the great ball handler that he is, defense will often times get very physical with the 17 year old to try and stop him if he gets to far inside.

In this past Saturday’s game, Freddy Adu was frustrated when twice he wasn’t given the call after being obviously fouled inside the penalty area. He claims MLS officials deliberately avoid calling fouls for him because they are always looking for the dive from Adu.

The officials have a right to question some calls for Freddy after Adu got a yellow card for taking a dive in the box against Canada during his first game for the U.S. National team. Since this incident Freddy Adu has told his teammates that he is going to “try 125 percent never to go down beacuse [he] feels like unless it’s something real serious, the refs are never going to call a foul for [him].”

As DC United prepares for post season play we will see what the officals response to these acusations are.

Freddy Adu and DC United head into the game against the New England Revolution with the top spot in the league with a 15-5-10 record while New England is fighting for homefield advantage going into the playoffs.

DC is coming off of 2 losses out of their last three matchs. They need to come away from this game with a decisive win over the Revoltion to go into the playoffs sparking fear into their opponents, not the thought that this team, who started out great, is now beatable.

Freddy Adu will try to take his speed into the game and cruise past the defense on a rain soaked field.

Here’s a great little compilation video on Freddy Adu. For a 17 year old kid, Freddy Adu has some of the best if not the best dribbling skills in the MLS. When will venture off to play in Europe and really master his skills.

Freddy Adu and his soccer skils came to America from Ghana when he was 13 years old when he dazzeled the international crowd using his dribbling skills to skirt circles around men.

When Freddy was just 14 years old, in 2003, he joined the MLS team DC United, where he still plays.

Just this past year he played several friendlies with the US National Team on their way to the World Cup. He didn’t see any world cup action but in 4 years we expect him to be a leader on the team as he builds his soccer skills in the MLS and hoepfully in a European league.
